What is Pulcinella ?
It is a Neopolitan mask originating in Campania whose physical aspect makes it look like a cockerel. The nose has the form of a beak which ancients called "pullus gallinaceus". It is thought the entymology of the word derives from the word"pullicinello" that is pulcino or chick. Like Harlequin, punch is a stupid servant who sometimes takes a contradictory personality. He can be both stupid and astute, bold and cowardly and has an extremely lively expressiveness typical of the Neoplolitans. Tiepolo immortalized more than one in paintings in the villa of Zianigo which can now be marveled at in the museum of the 18th century in Venice. The costume consists of a white coat

The restaraurant was previously "Mustang Sally's" but has gone through extensive rennovations to create the right decor and atmosphere.The interior has been modernised and the restaurant will soon feature an alfresco dining area for those perfect summer evenings.
Pulcinella believes in fresh, simple Italian cooking. The aim being - to bring the traditional Neapolitan flavours to people in Southampton.
